Roller Belt Natural/Brass

£89.00

Heavyweight belt, and a wardrobe staple, our Roller is at home paired with jeans or chinos. Simple, high quality traditional roller buckle, made for a lifetime of wear and beyond!

We make them all by hand, from heavy quality 5mm dip dyed Harness Leather, which is produced for us by one of England’s finest remaining tanneries. Each piece of leather takes 3-4 months to produce, using traditional tanning methods that date back centuries. We only use the premium ‘butt’ of the hide for its strength, and also to prevent our belts from stretching.

Quality hardware is hard to come by, so ours is custom made. The guys that make our buckles have been casting brass since 1837, so they’re pretty good at it. They also hold the Royal warrant as suppliers to household of the Queen of England, and that’s testament enough for us! Our Roller buckle is created using traditional sand casting skills, and is made from solid brass. The rivets we use are also solid brass, designed for quality and strength.

The result of our endeavours is a rugged belt of outstanding quality that will stand the test of time. Handmade with the care and attention that mass production will never imitate.

How we make it…

Each belt strip is cut to our standard width of 38mm (1.5’’), trimmed to size and the tips hand shaped and holes punched. The edges are bevelled and hand ‘burnished’, which seals the fibres of the leather, not only for aesthetics, but to help prevent the edges absorbing moisture. The strap is then cut to receive the buckle, which is riveted by hand.

About the Leather:

Constructed from full grain 5mm thick finest English Harness leather. Vegetable tanned using a time consuming, environmentally friendly process which utilises natural materials, including tree bark. Over time this leather will darken and develop a fine, unique patina with exposure to natural light.

Supplied with Barnes & Moore gift box, made from recycled materials and complimentary 5ml bottle of pure neatsfoot oil, used to condition the leather.

Constructed from a very special English Leather, supplied by England’s last remaining traditional Oak Bark Tannery.  9-10oz finest English full grain oak bark leather. This leather undergoes a labour intensive, traditional 12 month tanning process to produce a truly outstanding leather. This results in a very strong, yet lightweight leather.

Oak Bark leather is finished by hand with a unique blend of oils and greases that allow the true natural characteristics and colour of the leather to be highlighted. As a result, this leather will show some variation in colour, which is naturally occurring and adds to the unique beauty of each belt.

The surface also has a ‘full grain’ finish and, as a result some natural creasing and marking of the hide may be visible on the surface of your belt, which is a natural characteristic of the leather.

The journey starts with English oak bark, ground down by a water wheel, which is fed by a local river at the tannery. This is then soaked in water to draw out the natural tannin which forms the base of the tanning liquor.

Hides are then soaked in pits for 2-3 weeks to aid removal of the hair, this part of the process ensures the leather retains its fibre strength, and has been done this way for centuries. They are then cleaned by hand and washed before being suspended on wooden ‘sticks’ and suspended in the tanning pits, in the oak bark liquor for 9 months.

The hides are then layered in the pits with oak bark chippings inbetween them for a further 3 months and then shaved to a level thickness. Fish oil is applied and the hides are dipped in greases, and then ‘set’ by hand. The setting process is highly skilled and involves using traditional tools to push the leather grain out to achieve a flat, workable surface.

The final stage is staining the leather to the required colour by hand, and then conditioning with dubbin wax to produce a stunning quality leather.

Supplied with Barnes & Moore gift box, made from recycled materials and complimentary 5ml bottle of pure neatsfoot oil, used to condition the leather.

Garrison Belt Deep Honey/Nickel

£89.00

Do justice to your denim with our signature heavyweight of a belt. Featuring our custom built buckle weighing in at a hefty 100g and made to stand the test of time.

Our Garrison buckle is created using traditional sand casting skills, and is made from solid brass with an antique nickel finish. The rivets we use are also solid brass, nickel plated, designed for quality and strength.

The result of our endeavours is a rugged belt of outstanding quality that will stand the test of time. Handmade with the care and attention that mass production will never imitate.

How we make it

Each belt strip is hand cut to our standard width of 38mm (1.5’’), trimmed to size and the tips hand shaped. The edges are bevelled and hand ‘burnished’, which seals the fibres of the leather, not only for aesthetics, but to help prevent the edges absorbing moisture. The strap is then cut to receive the buckle, which is riveted by hand.

About the leather

Constructed from 5mm finest English Harness leather. Full grain, vegetable tanned using a time consuming, environmentally friendly process which utilises natural materials, including tree bark. This method achieves a supple, natural finish that will develop a beautiful patina over time.

Supplied with Barnes & Moore gift box, made from recycled materials and complimentary 5ml bottle of pure neatsfoot oil, used to condition the leather.

Garrison Belt Dark Stain/Black

Do justice to your denim with our signature heavyweight of a belt. Featuring our custom built buckle weighing in at a hefty 100g and made to stand the test of time.

We make them all by hand, with this belt made from heavy quality 5-6mm Oak Bark tanned leather, which is produced by England’s last remaining oak bark tannery. Each piece of leather takes 12 months to produce, using traditional tanning methods that date back centuries. We only use the premium ‘butt’ of the hide for its strength, and also to prevent our belts from stretching.

About the Leather:

The edges are bevelled and hand ‘burnished’, which seals the fibres of the leather, not only for aesthetics, but to help prevent the edges absorbing moisture. The strap is then cut to receive the buckle, which is riveted by hand.

Bosun Belt Harness Tan/Brass

£89.00

Functional and built to stand the test of time, our Bosun belt is inspired by seafaring types from a bygone age.

Our Garrison buckle is created using traditional sand casting skills, and is made from solid brass with a matt finish. The rivets we use are also solid brass, designed for quality and strength.

The result of our endeavours is a rugged belt of outstanding quality that will stand the test of time. Handmade with the care and attention that mass production will never imitate.

Slim Belt Harness Tan/Nickel

£69.00

A scaled down version of our popular Garrison belt, for those who prefer a narrower profile. The 32mm width is equally at home with trousers and chinos and works well with both.

Our Slim buckle is created using traditional sand casting skills, and is made from solid brass with an antique nickel finish. The rivets we use are also solid brass nickel plated, designed for quality and strength.

The result of our endeavours is a rugged belt of outstanding quality that will stand the test of time. Handmade with the care and attention that mass production will never imitate

How we make it…

Each belt strip is hand cut to our slimmer width of 32mm (1.25’’), trimmed to size and the tips hand shaped. The edges are bevelled and hand ‘burnished’, which seals the fibres of the leather, not only for aesthetics, but to help prevent the edges absorbing moisture. The strap is then cut to receive the buckle, which is riveted by hand.

About the Leather:

Constructed from 5mm finest English Harness leather. Full grain, vegetable tanned using a time consuming, environmentally friendly process which utilises natural materials, including tree bark. This method achieves a supple, natural finish that will develop a beautiful patina over time.

Supplied with Barnes & Moore gift box, made from recycled materials and complimentary 5ml bottle of pure neatsfoot oil, used to condition the leather.

Clobbercalm Supply Co – Railroad Belt

£139.00

Barnes and Moore X Clobbercalm Supply Co. Railroad Belt

We’ve got together with our friends at Clobbercalm Supply Co to create a somewhat substantial belt with a design inspired by vintage workwear belts from the mid 1800’s, when things were made to last, out of necessity rather than design.

This is a real heavyweight of a belt, with the 2’’ strap made from 12-13 oz finest organic natural vegetable tanned leather from Sweden’s reputed Tarnsjo tannery. This tannery has a rich heritage, dating back to 1873, and are the the only certified ‘organic’ tannery in the world. They are renowned for the high quality of their leather and ethical manufacturing process. The leather has a ‘creamy’ texture, slightly darker in shade than our English natural veg tan, and is also full grain. Each belt is unique, so it will show some shade texture and natural markings which add to the natural beauty of the leather.  Over time, with exposure to natural light it will age naturally, changing colour from its natural state to varying darker shades of tan, and develop a truly stunning patina.

The double prong buckle is cast by hand in solid brass by England’s last remaining sand cast foundry. They’ve been casting brass goods since 1837, so they’re pretty good at it, and as a testament hold the Royal Warrant and supply goods to Her Majesty the Queen of England!

How we make it

Each belt strip is hand cut to our standard width of 50mm (2’’), trimmed to size and the tips hand shaped. The edges are bevelled and hand ‘burnished’, which seals the fibres of the leather, not only for aesthetics, but to help prevent the edges absorbing moisture. The strap is then cut to receive the buckle, which is riveted by hand.

About the leather

Established since 1873, Tarnsjo Garveri are amongst 5% of tanneries in the world using traditional vegetable tanning to produce their leather. The tannery is located in a forest on the banks of the Tärnsjön lake in Sweden and uses hides from local Swedish farms to produce superior quality leather.

Tarnsjo are committed to responsible, sustainable manufacture, and to minimising the environmental impact of the tanning process. Each hide can be traced back to the farm it was sourced from and each process it goes through is certified to be fully organic.
